Bergman’s contribution to ”Swedish Sin” was an instant hit with audiences and critics. In the US, the film was distributed as Monika, the Story of a Bad Girl. British film scholar Laura Hubner introduces Summer with Monika and the idea of ‘Swedish sin’ from an international perspective, examining the legacies and myths surrounding the film.
